About me
I am a Nigerian-born, UK-based writer, novelist, poet, and literary community builder, drawn to stories that explore identity, ambition, belonging, love, and the complexities of human experience. My work is rooted in a deep curiosity about people and the worlds they inhabit, particularly the experiences that often remain unspoken or overlooked.I writes across fiction, poetry, interviews, and literary commentary, using storytelling as a way to explore the experiences that shape who we are and how we see the world.
Why I Write
For me, writing has never been just about publishing books. It is about building communities, creating spaces where underrepresented voices are heard, and proving that literature can bring people together across cultures, generations, and experiences.
I believe stories can preserve identity, challenge perspectives, inspire empathy, and create lasting connections. Whether I’m writing a novel, reviewing a book, organising a literary event, or recommending a story I love, my goal remains the same: to help more people discover the joy of reading and storytelling.
I write to create space for stories, for conversations, and for people who deserve to be seen.
My Writing Journey
I began writing seriously in 2021, initially sharing my stories through digital publishing platforms before expanding into literary magazines and independent publishing. Since then, my work has received recognition through literary awards and publications, encouraging me to continue growing as both a writer and an advocate for diverse storytelling.My debut novel, Black Ink, White Paper, is the first instalment in my Hearts and Skin series. Set against the backdrop of London’s publishing industry, it explores ambition, identity, race, love, and belonging through the eyes of a young Nigerian woman determined to find her place in an unfamiliar world.The second novel in the series is currently underway, continuing the journey of the characters readers have come to love. Alongside that, I’m developing an entirely new book, one that is still taking shape as I allow the story to reveal itself naturally.Looking ahead, I’m excited to broaden my writing portfolio even further. I hope to publish more work in literary magazines and journals, explore writing for children, and eventually create colouring books that celebrate imagination, culture, and creativity.
Writing, Community and Mental Health
Outside the literary world, I work as an Activity Coordinator within an NHS mental health facility. Although my career and my writing may seem like two different worlds, they are connected by the same purpose: caring for people.Every day I have the privilege of supporting individuals through meaningful activities that promote wellbeing, confidence, creativity, and connection. That work continually reminds me of the importance of compassion, patience, and human stories and all qualities that influence both my writing and the communities I strive to build.
Life Beyond the Books
When I’m not organising literary events or working on my next manuscript, you’ll probably find me with a crochet hook in my hand. Crocheting has become one of my newest creative joys. It gives me a different way to slow down, create something beautiful, and enjoy the quiet process of making. I still love writing from the comfort of home, where most of my stories have been born, but recently I’ve found myself drawn to quieter cafés, watching people pass by while words slowly find their way onto the page. I hope that this curiosity will eventually lead me to writing residencies around the UK and beyond, allowing me to experience new places, meet new creatives, and discover fresh inspiration through travel. I’m also an unapologetic animal lover. Dogs have always had my heart, but lately I’ve found myself unexpectedly developing a soft spot for cats too, a change I never quite saw coming.
Looking Ahead
The future feels full of possibility. I want to continue writing stories that resonate across cultures, publish more widely in literary journals and magazines, develop books for children, explore new creative formats, and expand the impact of the West Yorkshire Inked Literary Collective. Most of all, I hope my work, whether through novels, community projects, workshops, volunteering, or literary advocacy—encourages more people to read, to write, and to believe that their stories matter. Because every community deserves stories that reflect its people.
